Google releases command-line tool for YouTube, Calendar, Docs, and more

Something for the geeks: A command line tool to access the API´s of Google. My first idea: This can be the base for new plugins for wordpress or custom-made online-applications like CRM or shops. Like a calendar application, a synchronisation of contacts, archiving of invoices to Google Docs, publishing of new videos to Youtube and so on.

Google has launched a simple but very useful app for computer nerds everywhere: GoogleCL, a command-line tool that allows users to do everything from upload folders to Picasa to adding appointments to a Google Calendar.
Google CL is a Python application that makes Google Data API calls through the command line. A command-line interface (CLI) is an interface where the user can tell the computer to perform specific tasks by typing commands. You’ve probably seen them before, most likely via the MS-DOS command-line interface. YouTube Gets a Cloud-Based Video Editor

YouTube now offers an online video-editor. It is pretty simple but has a nice feature: audio-files from their AudioSwap library. No need to rip a track and get sued for it. The downside: YouTube may display advertisement. Maybe? They will.

If you have found yourself like I recently have - stuck with video on an iPhone and a netbook, but no real way to edit it - then fret no more, because YouTube has added an editor. While the YouTube Video Editor is certainly nothing to compete with the likes of Final Cut Pro or Premiere, it has the basic functionality needed to finally make it possible for those living the ultra-mobile, ultra-lightweight lifestyle to put their videos online without having to leave all the unwieldy odds and ends. YouTube (YouTube) recently redesigned channel pages to make them more dynamic and easier to customize. The beta channels are now a hodgepodge of your uploads, favorites, playlists, and numerous in-channel editing options. Should you upgrade to the new design, you have a greater chance of creating an eye-catching channel that’s likely to keep your viewers engaged for longer.

YouTube originally made the redesigned channels available to a select group of elite members and new users. Now however, the video site is letting anyone upgrade their channel, and eventually they’ll be moving all remaining channels over to the new version.
